There are multiple ways an user could go beyond code for Strudel. One way could be by adding music. For example someone enhances a feature that now allows the user to play a note or a sample in a different way. By adding the music, then the other members of community would see how the contribution is useful and helpful. Members could even come up with other ideas for features and then contribute themselves. Music could also make it clearer for the more beginner users on how that extra code improves the respective feature. Adding a music documentation could also help people who have trouble reading understand the code better. For example, adding in every file what that respective code does in “musical terms” : this file imports musical instruments, here are the scales defined etc.
Another way to contribute beyond code could be by adding videos. Because Strudel is a live music coding platform what happens on the spot is very important. Someone could take a video of themselves using the code and composing music with it and the showing a difficulty they ran into. Or even if a person is using it and then someone else gets an idea on how to improve the experience. Videos could also be more accessible for people who struggle with focusing or reading long files of code.
The outreach could be improved with both ideas as I think it would make people even more interested in this project. Videos and music could even attract musicians who do not know how to code well but maybe have the desire to do from watching what can be made using Strudel. They can also just make the whole process more exciting and interesting.
